This Policy does not apply to websites, applications, or services operated independently by third parties, even when they are linked to or accessible through our websites.

Applicant information submitted through our websites is covered by this Policy. Internal employee records may be governed by separate employment policies.

Please do not submit Social Security numbers, account passwords, medical information, or other highly sensitive information through a general website contact form.

Northstar may receive limited information such as the payer’s name, transaction amount, payment status, payment token, or the last four digits of the payment method rather than complete card or bank information.

Disabling some technologies may affect website functionality.

6. Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track

Where required by applicable law and where we can reasonably associate the signal with the relevant browser or consumer, Northstar will process legally valid opt-out preference signals, such as Global Privacy Control, as a request to opt out of qualifying sales or targeted advertising.

Some browsers also provide a “Do Not Track” setting. Because there is not a uniform legal or technical standard governing all Do Not Track signals, our websites may not respond to every such signal. This does not affect our treatment of opt-out signals that applicable law requires us to recognize.

Texas law permits consumers to use qualifying browser settings, extensions, device settings, or other authorized-agent technologies to communicate certain opt-out requests.

We may disclose information to payment processors, banks, financing providers, insurers, accountants, and others involved in processing or documenting a transaction.

Advertising and analytics providers

We may disclose online identifiers, IP addresses, device information, website activity, referral information, and conversion data to analytics or advertising providers.

Northstar does not sell personal information for money. However, some state privacy laws may define certain advertising or analytics disclosures as a “sale,” “sharing,” or processing for targeted advertising even when no money is exchanged. Where applicable, you may opt out as described below.

Professional advisers

We may disclose information to attorneys, accountants, insurers, claims professionals, auditors, and other professional advisers.

Governmental and legal recipients

8. Sale of Personal Information and Targeted Advertising

Northstar:

• Does not sell personal information for direct monetary payment
• Does not sell sensitive personal data
• Does not sell biometric data
• Does not knowingly sell personal information belonging to children under 13
• Does not use personal information for profiling that produces legal or similarly significant effects concerning a consumer

If Northstar uses advertising technologies that constitute a sale, sharing, or targeted advertising under applicable state law, eligible consumers may opt out by using:

1. The Privacy Choices or Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information link located in the website footer; or
2. The privacy-request methods described in Section 14.

Implementation requirement: Add a footer privacy-choice link if advertising pixels, retargeting, cross-context behavioral advertising, or similar technology is used.

9. Sensitive Personal Information

Northstar does not ordinarily need information revealing race, ethnicity, religious beliefs, health diagnoses, sexuality, citizenship or immigration status, genetic information, or biometric identifiers to provide remodeling services.

We may process limited financial, property-access, insurance, or exact-location information when reasonably necessary to provide requested services. We will obtain consent before processing legally defined sensitive personal data when consent is required.

Northstar does not use sensitive information to infer personal characteristics for advertising purposes.

10. Data Retention

We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Policy, including to:

• Respond to inquiries and prepare estimates
• Perform and document contracted services
• Maintain plans, approvals, and project records
• Administer warranties and service obligations
• Maintain tax, accounting, insurance, and payment records
• Resolve disputes and enforce agreements
• Meet building, permitting, licensing, and legal requirements
• Prevent fraud and maintain security
• Maintain marketing opt-out records

The retention period depends on the type of information, the status and duration of the customer relationship, warranty periods, legal limitation periods, contractual requirements, and applicable law.

When information is no longer reasonably necessary, we may delete it, securely destroy it, or deidentify it.

Northstar uses reasonable administrative, physical, and technical safeguards appropriate to the nature and volume of the information we maintain. These measures may include:

12. Marketing Communications

Email

You may unsubscribe from marketing email by using the unsubscribe link contained in the message or by contacting us.

Even after unsubscribing from marketing, you may continue to receive nonmarketing communications relating to estimates, appointments, contracts, payments, active projects, warranties, safety, or other service matters.

Text messages

You may opt out of marketing text messages by replying STOP. You may request assistance by replying HELP or contacting us directly.

Opting out of marketing texts does not prevent Northstar from sending necessary one-to-one communications concerning an estimate, scheduled appointment, active project, payment, warranty matter, or safety issue when otherwise permitted by law.

Consent to receive automated marketing texts should be collected through a separate, clear consent statement at the point where a telephone number is submitted. Consent should not be made a condition of purchasing remodeling services.

Telephone calls

You may ask us not to make marketing calls to you. This will not prevent calls reasonably necessary to respond to your request or administer an existing customer relationship.

13. Children’s Privacy

Our websites and remodeling services are intended for adults and are not directed to children under 13.

We do not knowingly collect personal information online directly from a child under 13 without legally required parental consent. If we learn that a child under 13 submitted personal information without appropriate authorization, we will take reasonable steps to delete it.

A parent or legal guardian who believes a child submitted information may contact us using the information below. COPPA applies to child-directed websites and to general-audience services that have actual knowledge they are collecting personal information online from a child under 13.

14. Your Privacy Rights

Depending on your state of residence and whether an applicable law covers Northstar’s processing, you may have the right to:

Verification

We may take reasonable steps to verify your identity before completing a request. Verification may include confirming information previously provided to us, responding through a verified email address or telephone number, or requesting additional information reasonably necessary to prevent unauthorized disclosure.

We will not request more information than is reasonably necessary to verify and process the request.

Authorized agents

Where permitted by law, you may authorize another person to submit an opt-out or other privacy request for you. We may request evidence of the agent’s authority and may separately confirm your identity or authorization.

Response period

When the Texas Data Privacy and Security Act applies, Northstar will respond without undue delay and generally no later than 45 days after receiving an authenticated request. That period may be extended once by an additional 45 days when reasonably necessary, provided notice and an explanation are given during the initial response period.

Fees

Requests will generally be processed without charge as required by applicable law. A reasonable fee may be charged, or a request may be declined, when legally permitted because a request is manifestly unfounded, excessive, technically infeasible, or repetitive.

Appeals

If we decline all or part of your request, you may appeal by:

• Mailing an appeal to the address above with “Privacy Appeal” clearly marked

Please explain why you believe the decision should be reconsidered.

If an appeal is denied and Texas law applies, we will provide information about submitting a complaint to the Texas Attorney General. The Texas Attorney General has exclusive enforcement authority under the Texas Data Privacy and Security Act.

Information posted publicly may be viewed, copied, or shared by others. Avoid posting property-access information, payment information, or other sensitive details in public comments.

17. International Visitors

Northstar is located in Harris County, Texas, and primarily provides services in Texas. Our websites and business systems are operated from the United States.

If you access our websites from outside the United States, your information may be transferred to, stored in, and processed in the United States, where privacy laws may differ from those in your location.
